Wings Air strengthen fleet


Wings Air airline to strengthen its fleet. The company bought 15 aircraft ATR 72 Series 500 from the aircraft manufacturer Alenia turboprop An Aeronotica and EADS joint venture. 


Ordering 15 aircraft is a continuation of the commitment in 2009, where Wings Air ordered 30 ATR aircraft unit, which consists of 15 units is a definite booking and reservation of 15 units is an additional option.

Wings Air hopes, he said, this year the aircraft will be accepted and operated to achieve 15 units. With that addition, the company's Wings Air ATR 72 series aircraft users 500 of the largest in Southeast Asia. 


During this time, Wings Air uses this type of aircraft to fly routes such as Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, and neighboring countries. This type of aircraft is ideally suited to serve remote areas of the flight route as well as a feeder for the airline Lion Air.


Wings Air first ATR 72 aircraft operating in Indonesia in January 2010 and until February 2011, reaching approximately 10 aircraft. Expected five more aircraft will gradually be accepted until August 2011. 


Managing Director of Lion Air Wings Air also Commissioner Rusdi Kirana said the increase in the number of ATR fleet is expected to contribute to national economic growth. 


"ATR aircraft became very popular in Indonesia, because they play a key role in business development and tourism, as well as linking the islands of Indonesia," said Rusdi.
